The data-focused conversation is always important for everything. For instance: For a company, or for a study like Phd. etc. It can always assist moving onward by going beyond the basic of “what is it” and getting to “what does this signify”, and what can we do”. Ultimately, the intent of data is to promote better studies and business decisions. To be capable to converse the language of data, you will need to begin by knowing the structure of data. Before coming up to the technicality of data, one needs to know about the necessary building blocks of data like how they work together and are connected.
In our article, we have illustrated the basic building blocks of data. These are considered as tables, charts, and further data visuals.
1. Elements: Elements are considered as person, place or object doing something. For example: if you are checking out one of the college lists there, the name of the university correspond to an element. You can also consider it while looking at a table of data where each row of information represents an element.
2. Dimensions: Dimension describes features of elements involved. It is an aspect which could be used to narrate the story about the element. Dimensions can help you to restrict your list with filtering and can be found in the columns of a table.
3. Metrics: Metrics is a measurement answering questions like how much or how many? It is always easy to see metrics because they are objects or considered as actions evaluating in a mathematical expression, for example: the sum or average. The metrics can also be easily found in the columns of the data table.
